2. Robot Operation
-
The Robot Assembly cell consists of a vision-guided pick-and-place robot that detects incoming cheese products on the Main Drive Conveyor, picks each piece using an appropriate gripper, and places it into the next process (e.g. a packing tray, bin, or further conveyor). The system handles all the cheese types conveyed — Feta blocks, 1 kg packs, Cheddar blocks, etc., up to the maximum cheese weight of 1 kg per piece.
-
A machine-vision camera is mounted over or beside the conveyor. This “eye” captures images of the conveyor belt and the cheese items as they arrive. The vision system analyses shape, size, orientation and location of each cheese piece, even if they are randomly placed or differently oriented.
-
Hygiene and food-industry compliance Because this is a food-line (cheese), the robot cell—including frame, conveyors, grippers is built with food-grade materials (e.g. stainless steel, FDA-compliant plastic or coatings), and designed for easy wash-down conveyor belt and cleaning. Many industrial food-packaging robot systems offer these hygienic features.
-
The robot’s control system (often a PLC or robot controller + vision software) synchronizes with the Main Drive Conveyor movement and vision system input. When the vision system detects a cheese item entering the pick zone, it triggers the robot to pick—ensuring accurate timing even if products are randomly spaced.
